New alternator For 94-02 Dodge truck with Cummins engine.
This is a new 120amp aftermarket alternator as Denso no longer offers this item. We have had excellent result with this product over the past years. No core required. Pulley not included, save by using your old pulley or order a new one below. In 1999/2000 and in 1989 model years two alternators were supplied. This alternator directly replaces the Denso alternator. If you have the Chrysler/Bosch alternator you will need to remove the rubber plug and add lugs to the two small wires. The small wires are non-polar and can connect to either lug.
Our experience shows that you can usually replace the brushes in these alternators once, usually around 100K miles. The second time the alternator should be rebuilt or replaced because the slip ring (where the brushes rub) may be too worn. Your mileage may vary of course. In 1999/2000 and in 1989 model years two alternators were supplied. These brushes only fit the Nippon Denso alternator. If you have the Chrysler alternator these will not fit. Please be sure your alternator is a Nippon Denso before ordering. BRUSH INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS Diode Pack for Denso Alternator
Rarely does the diode pack fail unless while jumping the battery with jumper cables someone accidentally crossed the cables. (not you of course :)) or allowed the cables to touch each other or ground while the motor is running. This will toast the diode bridge. These things are costly but still less than buying a new alternator. For Denso alternator only. If the two small wires on the back of the alternator attach to two seperate posts then you have a Denso. If they attach with a rubber plug then you have a Bosch. This does not fit the Bosch Alternator!!! If you want to learn more, here is some info on understanding alternators |
